BALLARAT'S Sovereign Hill is bucking the state's domestic tourism downturn by linking special events with a couple of innovative freebies.
The gold rush theme park has increased visitors by 12 per cent this year, and 28 per cent during the recent school holidays. This comes after a four-year free-fall. One of the keys to the success has been a discount petrol scheme.
